Contribution service sector in economic growth is more but less on employment. “A large section of the population especially the poor, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other backward classes, minorities and women lack access to the resources and opportunities needed to reap the benefits of economic growth,” says the World Bank in its latest Country Overview on India.

In USA about 50 per cent women entrepreneurs are found while in Japan it is 23 per cent and in Germany, France and Britain it is 30 per cent. This shows that entrepreneurial activities in India are lagging behind compared to other countries.
