  • WHATSAPP DEPENDENCE AS A CORRELATE OF SLEEP QUALITY AMONG SENIOR SECONDARY STUDENTS IN THE FCT, ABUJA METROPOLIS

Abstract: This study sought to determine the relationship between WhatsApp dependence and sleep quality of senior secondary school students within the FCT, Abuja metropolis. 405 participants enrolled for the study. 227students representing 55.9% of the total participants were boys, while 178 students representing 44.08% of the total participants were girls. Out of the total number of participants 211 students representing, 52.0 % reported WhatsApp dependence with positive association with poor sleep quality. Two scales were used in the study. WhatsApp dependence was measured using WhatsApp Dependence Scale (WDS) which was adapted from Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale (BFAS). The second scale (SQS) was adapted and modified from Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI).

Domestic violence has been attracting the attention of researchers because of the danger it portends for the society at large. Abstract: The boatmen and fishermen who devote most of their time and energy in the hearts of Padma have an intimate link with the river in search of a living. Thus the river employs an overwhelming influence on the life and livelihood, hopes and hears desires of the people who cannot but adore it. Here the image of Padma is used as a metaphor of life by the novelist Manik Bandopadhyay in this novel. People all over the world depend on river for agriculture, industry, energy, transport and for their livelihood. Abstract: ਪਰਿਕਰਮਾ ਨਾਵਲ ਪਰਵਾਸੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨਾਵਲਕਾਰ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਰੇਵਾਲ ਦਾ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਾਵਲ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਆਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਨਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਿਰਤਾਂਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਤਾਣੇ ਬਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਲਝੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇਹ ਨਾਵਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਕਾਰ ਘੜਦਾ ਹੈ । ਨਾਵਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਵਲ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਪਾਤਰ ਮਿਸਟਰ ਬੈਂਸ ਤੀਹ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਸ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਪ ਨੇ ਤੀਹ ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਅਗਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਪ ਦੀ ਅਸਲੀ ਅੰਸ਼ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਜੂਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਦੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਜੀਅ ਵਾਪਸ ਪੈਰ ਨਾ ਪਾਵੇ। ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਪ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਬੋਲ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਗਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਜੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਰਤਦਾ ।
