  • EFFECTIVENESS OF BEEHIVE FENCES TO DETER CROP RAIDING ELEPHANTS IN KERALA, INDIA

Riju P Nair & E. A. Jayson

Abstract:
Human-elephant (HEC) conflict is a growing concern in today’s crowded world. This study was initiated to check the effectiveness beehive fence an eco-friendly, low cost biological fence against crop raiding Asian elephants (Elephas maximus).

  • THE IMPACT OF HUMAN-WILDLIFE CONFLICT IN PEECHI-VAZHANI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY, THRISSUR, KERALA

P. Greeshma, E. A. Jayson and Suresh K. Govind

Abstract:
Human-Wildlife Conflict (HWC) is a grave issue all over the world. This study was initiated to assess the overall pattern of crop damage, livestock lifting and human casualties in and around the Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary, Thrissur, Kerala.

  • OROGRAPHIC EFFECT OF THE ASSAM-BURMA HILLS IN INDIA ON A BAROTROPIC AIR-STREAM

Prasanta Das, Somenath Dutta and Shyamal Kumar Mondal

Abstract:
An attempt has been made to obtain an analytical solution for 3-D meso-scale lee wave across the Assam-Burma hills (ABH) in India for an idealized barotropic mean flow. ABH has been approximated by two 3-D elliptical barriers, separated by a valley of some finite distance and is broadly north-south (NS) oriented.

  • THICKNESS DEPENDENT COERCIVE FIELD AND MAGNETIC ANISOTROPY IN COFEB THIN FILMS

Kailash Chandra, Dr. Hemant Kumar, Sachin Kumar

Abstract:
Transition metal–metalloid (TM–M) alloy CoFeB is an amorphous soft ferromagnetic material. The structural and magnetic properties of as-grown 6–24 nm thin magnetron sputtering deposited Co20Fe60B20films are reported in this communication.

  • MOLAR EXTINCTION COEFFICIENTS OF SOME ALKALI METAL SALTS IN AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS

Ashok Kumar

Abstract:
Molar extinction coefficients of aqueous solutions of some commonly used alkali metal salts have been measured using well-collimated narrow beam transmission geometry at 279, 356, 662, 1173 and 1332 keV.

  • Removal of Fe (II) using synthesised 5-Amino-2-Hydroxy Benzene Sulphonic Acid derivative of saw dust

Harsukh Ram Chharang

Abstract:
Fe and Zn are essential trace elements for living organisms but the high level of accumulation of these metals can produce various problems in human being. Fe (II) is essential part of hemoglobin. Excess amount of Fe (II) may cause conjunctivitis, choroiditis and retinitis, so it is necessary to remove the excessive amount of Fe (II) present in water more than permissible limit1-3. Many workers have used different methods for removal of toxic metal from polluted water.4-11 In present work newly synthesised chelating resin, 5-Amino-2-Hydroxy Benzene Sulphonic Acid derivative of saw dust (AHBSASD) has been used for removal of Fe (II)

  • SOME STUDIES ON SILICON AMPLIFIER TRANSISTOR USING A He-Ne LASER

Dr R.K. Gupta

Abstract:
In this work a silicon (High β) transistor BC- 109 has been used to study the properties of silicon as a detector. The silicon transistor BC- 109 was cut at its top and made ready for illumination with Helium-Neon Laser (Make-Spectra laser, 0.50 watt). The output from the emitter-base or base-collector electrodes were fed to an amplifier and oscillator circuit, finally connected to a loud speaker of impedence 3 ohms. The output was accurately measured. The intensity of laser beam was varied in small angles. The curves obtained for different illumination intensities provides a deep view in ascertaining the properties of doped silicon.
