  • STUDIES ON DOCUMENTATION OF TREE SPECIES DISTRIBUTED INSIDE THE COLLEGE CAMPUS

Dr. M. Selvi and Dr. K. Parani

Abstract:
Floristic diversity refers to the variability of plants in a given region. It refers to the number of types or taxa in a given region or group. Floristic diversity can be measured at any level from overall global diversity to ecosystem, community, species, populations, individuals and even to genes within a single individual. India is one of the 12 mega diversity centers of the world where western Ghats and the eastern Himalayan region constitute 2 of the 25 biodiversity hotspots

  • Phytochemical and Callus induction studies of Curculigo orchioides Gaertn. (Kali Musili).

Miss S. Mariammal** and Dr. M. Selvi*

Abstract:
The present study reveals that the following such as, Curculigo orchioides contains variety of phytochemicals like Alkaloids, Tannins, glycosides, sterols, saponins, proteins Aminoacids, lipids carbohydrates, starch, sugar aromatic acids ,and chlorophyll. Absence of gummy substances were found in all the three ( Leaf, tuber and root stock) samples. Though the plant has more significant in both medicinally and economically

  • Influence of variation of pH of Polysulphide on the characteristics of thin film grown CdSe0.3Te0.7/Polysulphide junction photo electrochemical solar cells.

Laxmikant P. Damodare

Abstract:
Thin films of CdSe0.3Te0.7 were grown on glass plates by vacuum evaporation in a vacuum of 5×〖10〗^(-5) torr . The as grown thin films were characterized by XRD, optical absorption to assess its crystal structure and the band gap. The as grown thin films exhibited Zinc Blende structure with lattice constant ao ≈4.562 Å and a direct optical band gap of ≈1.54 eV. The as grown thin film in conjunction with a polysulphide electrolyte comprising of aqueous 1 M NaOH + 1 M Na2S + 1 M S showed photoeffects under AM 1.5 whitelight illumination. The variation of pH of the electrolyte exhibited change in the parameters like Flat band potential, depletion width in the semiconductor. Variations of Mott-Shottky plots in dark too were exhibited at 1 MHz frequency for different values of pH of the electrolyte. It is found that the pH variation effects the bending of the bands in the semiconductor at the semiconductor electrolyte junction thereby influencing the solar power conversion characteristics. The results obtained are discussed in this paper.
