Abstract:
This study examines the impact of tourism on the local economic scenario of Dakpathar village, located in Dehradun district, Uttarakhand. Dakpathar, known for its agricultural productivity and scenic beauty, has become a prominent tourist destination due to its proximity to the Yamuna Dam and surrounding national parks. The research investigates how tourism influences local economic activities, employment opportunities, and community development. Data was collected through surveys and face-to-face interviews with villagers, focusing on the economic benefits and challenges posed by tourism. The findings reveal that tourism has contributed to job creation, boosted local businesses, and enhanced the village's economy. However, it has also introduced environmental and social concerns, including pollution, waterlogging, and social issues like drug abuse. The study highlights the need for a balanced approach to tourism development, emphasizing environmental sustainability and social responsibility to ensure long-term economic benefits and community well-being in Dakpathar.
