Abstract: Traditional infrastructure materials like concrete are susceptible to cracks and deterioration over time, leading to expensive repairs and safety hazards. Self-healing materials offer a promising solution by incorporating mechanisms to automatically repair damage. This paper explores the current state of self-healing materials in infrastructure, focusing on different healing mechanisms, material types, and their potential applications in concrete, asphalt, and other infrastructure materials. It also discusses the challenges and future directions of research in this field.
