Economic analyses of rural programs often exhibit a narrow focus, primarily concentrating on metrics
such as employment, income, and asset accumulation. This paper contends that adopting a broader
perspective, which considers the shifting relative positions of various rural social strata, can yield a more
profound understanding of rural transformation. Additionally, this approach can align empirical research
more closely with the evolving theoretical frameworks in development economics. The subject at hand
pertains to rural development in India, which encompasses the overall enhancement of economic and
social conditions for individuals living in rural locales. It is not merely a goal but an ongoing process
that significantly contributes to the economic advancement of both rural areas and the nation as a whole.

INDIAN AGRICULTURE SECTOR CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES
LT. S. A. PALANDE
Abstract:
Agriculture has always been the backbone of the Indian economy and despite
concerted industrialization in the last six decades, agriculture still occupies a place of pride.
It provides employment to around 60% of the total work force in the country. The
significance of agriculture in the national economy can be best explained by considering the
role of agriculture in different areas. Agriculture is the life blood of Indian economy. The
government's financial allocations have been less for agriculture and irrigation, contribution
of agriculture to GDP had dropped from 7.8% to 1.8% and now it may 2.4%. Production has
been declining. Higher productivity in cereals and pulses along with scientific storage and
ban on acquisition of multi crop lands are to be considered. However , it suffer from low
funds , low income , bad monsoon , limited technology , failure of land reforms , unbalanced
development etc. But these can be declined with the help of reforms like rural reforms, more
credit , technology management, new frontiers, public disinvestment, FDI etc. A mature and
civilized nation must cherish its agriculture and protect its farmer.

IMPACT OF GROWTH ON INDIAN ECONOMY TO RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES
1. PROF. (DR.) GORAKSHNATH K. SANAP , 2. HANDE RACHANA SUBHASH
Abstract:
The impact of rural development programmes on the growth of the Indian economy is a
crucial topic. Rural development programmes in India aim to improve living standards and basic
amenities in rural areas through various economic and social initiatives. The economic
investigations of rural programmes tend to be rather myopic remaining preoccupied with
increases in employment, income, assets, etc. The purpose of this paper is to argue that looking
at the rural programmes from the broader perspective of changing relative positions of rural
strata would provide deeper understanding of rural change and, also, bring the empirical studies
closer to the emerging theoretical issues in development economics.
