  • COUNTER-TERRORISM STRATEGIES IN NIGERIA: CASE STUDY OF THE BOKO HARAM

Abstract: With the recent challenges of terrorism in Nigeria and the formation of different terrorist groups, insurgency in the country has increased and made it one of the most terrorized countries in sub-Saharan Africa. This research paper examined the effects of the different strategies applied in the attempt to fight terrorism and how these strategies have affected the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria. The body of this study gives clear insight into the origination of terrorist groups in Nigeria, and their different strategies of operation, the effects on persons in the affected areas and the outcome of the effect on Nigerian politics and economy, as well as the operations of counter-terrorist strategies. The basic qualitative design was used to understand the implications of how the activities of the Boko Haram terrorist organization affected the people of the affected region. Critical theory and resourced dependency theory were applied, and data were obtained through face-to-face and telephone interviews with 15 stakeholders. Recommendations are made to enable counter-terrorist agencies in developing and applying additional and effective workable strategies in their fight against terrorism in Nigeria

  • Critical Study on Impact of Physical Fitness of Volleyball Players and Game Performance in India.

Abstract: The study revolves around the co-linearity of various fitness parameters with the team game performance of volleyball. It aims to point out the health-related fitness parameters and study the essence of the same, then examine the relation of the health-related and skill-related fitness parameters with the team performance in volleyball and to assess the extent to which team performance is affected by the fitness parameters. For this purpose, a compiled, clean and summarised version of data has been picked up from reports such as the annual report of youth affairs ministry, various sports journals, fitness magazines etc.Among the sports data, that associated with volleyball has been given focus and the information pertaining to the regional and inter-school sports teams are leveraged for the purpose of this study. The study has found that Cardiovascular Endurance and Muscular Endurance have moderate correlation with team performance. Muscular Strength is observed to be strongly correlated with team performance. Flexibility and Body Composition w.r.t height, weight, arm length etc., though perceived to be important in sports, are found to have a weak or nil correlation in the context of our data.

Abstract: The study focuses on a comparative analysis on the fitness practices of football players of both India and Bangladesh. It aims to look into various fitness parameters and the nature of training and exercises that have an impact on football players in general, analyse critically the extent to which the fitness factors have an impact on the player of both countries and examine the scope of upgradation in training patterns in the context of the football players of both countries concerned. For this purpose, data is collected on the football players of College level from both India and Bangladesh. 15 players each of India and Bangladesh have been chosen from the purpose of our study. The players’ age ranges between 18-24 years. The statistical tool used in this research is Independent Sample t-test. The t-test is conducted using IBM SPSS software.
